In an interview with Treasure CEO Masato Maegawa, Gamasutra discovered that Microsoft has asked the company to release Radiant Silvergun for Xbox Live Arcade.
This classic shooter was available in arcades and the Sega Saturn (Japan only, in both cases). It's considered a classic and the precursor to the company's highly regarded title, Ikaruga. Maegawa said:
"Microsoft actually asked us if we could put it out. We're thinking about it, certainly, but it's not as simple as just saying 'OK, let's put it up.' I mean, sure, with Ikaruga, we released it as-is without having to do or add a great deal to the game, and it was popular and well accepted for what it was. But if you play Radiant Silvergun nowadays, it's certainly aged in assorted ways, and I'm not sure they're all good."
I don't care if the game shows its age -- most games that are more than a decade old do. I still want it! I'm sure a lot of other people want it too. At the time, hardcore Saturn fans were importing the game because it was so good. I'm sure a lot of longtime gamers would snatch an XBLA version of Radiant Silvergun in a snap and I'd be curious to see what newcomers think of this classic...though I wonder if younger gamers have even heard of it.

Would any of you pick up Radiant Silvergun for XBLA? Have you even heard of the game? (Shame on you if you haven't!)
