Wrath Of The Lich King Nets EB Games Second-Biggest Sales Week Ever

Mega-expansion breaks a ton of records for the retailer, according to leaked report.

EB Games sit upon their throne of cash

Nobody with half a sense of World of Warcraft's popularity doubted that the MMO's latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, would be a huge seller, but we're finally getting early indications of just how huge. A leaked internal e-mail from EB Games (via WOW Insider) revealed that the add-on actually broke an epic number of records for the videogame retailer.

Most impressively, Wrath of the Lich King provided EB Games with their biggest launch event ever, leading to the both their biggest sales week of 2008 so far and their second biggest sales week ever (the biggest ever was the week of Christmas last year). Wrath also takes home the titles for most preorders ever, highest single-format week one sales, and highest first day sales of any game ever. Geez, overkill much?

With two expansions under their belt, Blizzard's MMO behemoth shows no signs of slowing down. I'd ask if they could possibly keep it up, but last time I did that they released Wrath of the Lich King...so instead I'm just going to go level my Death Knight some more.
