Online demo of Metal Gear Solid 4, Rayman 2 on PSP, and Penny Arcade Episode 2 on PS3 released.
Playstation Store in this latest update.
New downloadable games are available on the PS3 as well, with Penny Arcade Adventures: On The Rainslick Precipice of Darkness: Episode 2 ($15) and Crash Commando ($10) both popping up today. The appropriately titled Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars answered one of our gripes with the game by dropping in price to a reasonable $10 just in time to be a perfect virtual stocking stuffer.
Demos of the mediocre Sonic Unleashed and Metal Gear Solid 4 can now be found on PSN. The MGS4 demo is an online demo, giving you access to some multiplayer MGS action -- provided you've downloaded the other available demo and never played the retail version of Metal Gear Online before. If you've borrowed or rented the game and played it on your system, then you unfortunately won't be able to play this demo.
Little Big Planet completes the Santa outfit with a free hat and beard, which are accompanied by the release of the Festive Level Pack. High Velocity Bowling gets two free costumes and one premium character (Gage, $1). Hot Shots Golf adds some new costumes, too, with six variations of the five new costumes equaling 30 different outfits for $3. Naruto fans can download a free DLC pack that allows you to employ Kurenai as your support character and adds a new ultimate mission, too.
Along with the usual slate of themes and videos, the weekly dose of downloadable music tracks is pretty hefty this week as Rock Revolution joins the group of regulars, releasing seven new tracks for $1.49 each. There's also a Bemani track pack that includes five of the aforementioned seven songs for $5.49. Rock Band wades into country music with five songs at $1.99 a piece or $8.49 for all five in the Going Country Pack. Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore 2 adds five new songs at the usual $1.49 price tag, including a cover of the classic "What is Love?" I can't imagine a cover would capture the magic of the original song, but you can shake your head along with it in any event, which is what matters most. Lastly we have Guitar Hero World Tour, which gets three tracks by The Eagles for $1.99 each of $5.49 as a bundle.
Before you go running off to Home so you can start yapping into your microphone about this update, remember that voice chat has been removed for the time being. On the bright side, at least you can finally have a beard.
