GTA: Chinatown Wars 'Far Bigger' Than PSP GTAs

Rockstar Leeds president calls Chinatown Wars the biggest portable game Rockstar has made yet.

Rockstar promises a 'far bigger' experience for
Chinatown Wars on the DS than the PSP iterations.

Handheld gaming isn't exactly known for great scope and grandiosity, particularly on the DS. But according to Gordon Hall, president of Rockstar Leeds, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be the biggest portable game Rockstar has ever made -- even bigger than Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories on the PSP.

"Chinatown Wars is much bigger than anything we have ever done before [in terms of scope]: more odd jobs, deeper missions, and more moments of over-the-top action," Hall explained in an interview with Nintendo Power (as relayed by Nintendo Everything). "We have a huge interaction with the Rockstar Social Club, a massive [narcotics trafficking] game that would stand alone on its own. The list goes on and on; this thing is huge. We are very proud of all of the PSP games we have made, especially the two GTA games, but this game is far bigger."

By Hall's wording, it's hard to tell if he means Chinatown Wars is bigger in terms of gameplay options, geographic territory, or both. But keep in mind -- the game's map is supposedly as big as GTA4's, save for the New Jersey-modeled Alderney borough. That's a pretty massive chunk of land for any game, let alone one on the DS.
