Added content will not be "what we've done traditionally" according to producer.
With Call of Duty: World at War continuing to perform well at retail and on multiplayer charts, it's no surprise that Activision has plans to continue supporting the game via paid downloadable content just as they did with Call of Duty 4. However, where its predecessor only had a single multiplayer map pack released, World at War will have "potentially two, maybe three packs out before we're all said and done," reports MTV Multiplayer.
World at War executive producer Daniel Suarez explained the desire to boost the amount of DLC for the latest Call of Duty, adding, "It's not going to be what we've done traditionally. I'll leave it a little bit mysterious." MTV Multiplayer speculated on the possibilities for what this cryptic statement could mean -- new single player content, new weapons, etc. -- but all Suarez said is that they will not be bringing weapons or maps from Call of Duty 4 over to World at War or vice versa.
The single Call of Duty 4 map pack wasn't released until the game had been out for five months, so we'll probably be waiting a little longer until we know just what Suarez means. That said, we've already seen that World at War is willing to try some fairly wild things compared to earlier entries in the series, such as the zombie Nazi mode that is unlocked when you complete the single player campaign. Perhaps the "mysterious" downloadable content Suarez refers to could be whole new game modes that extend the franchise is further unexpected ways? We're just as eager to find out as you, so stay tuned.
