Wants to expand LittleBigPlanet, calls Rock Band and Guitar Hero on PSP area of "huge interest."
The rumors of a portable iteration of LittleBigPlanet continue, but now they have some company. Sony has expressed interested in not just expanding LittleBigPlanet beyond the PlayStation 3, but Rock Band and Guitar Hero as well.
Speaking with the MTV Multiplayer blog, head of Sony America hardware marketing John Koller called LittleBigPlanet "expansionary," saying that Sony would certainly be look at a variety of opportunities for the future.
"Whether that's the [PlayStation Portable] or not, I can't really say," Koller said. "We certainly look at 'LittleBigPlanet' franchise as a going forward franchise for us, and that speaks to the PlayStation brand overall."
As for PSP editions of Rock Band and Guitar Hero, Koller said that it's "of huge interest to us," called the music area of the PSP "critical."
"PSP is a lot different than your traditional handheld product and music is the number two use on the PSP, behind gaming," Koller said. "So, the marrying of those two concepts is of huge interest to us, and if there's that opportunity to launch a title like that or even a new title that utilizes music in some way, then obviously we're very interested."
Of course, if Neversoft or Harmonix were to bring their respective brands over to the PSP, they would face the same problem that Guitar Hero: On Tour now has with the Nintendo DSi. Namely, how on earth would it work?
