Ghostbusters and other geek faves back on the service.
You can all rest easy now, as users at EvilAvatar have noticed that Sony Columbia Pictures films have returned to the Instant Watch feature of the New Xbox Experience. We took a look ourselves to confirm and, sure enough, the tell-tale "Not available on Xbox 360" labels were gone from our online queue. Just to be safe, we started a previously missing movie -- The Natural from Columbia subsidiary TriStar -- and it worked like a charm as well.
There was Internet unrest last week when, on the eve of the New Xbox Experience launch, Sony Columbia Pictures movies suddenly disappeared. Some claimed it was a slap in the face from Sony, but the movies still appeared in the Zune store, suggesting it was simply a poorly-timed licensing issue. Comments from both Netflix and Sony representatives backed this up, and the return of the flicks only a week after they went missing seems to indicate the latter. Sorry conspiracy theorists, it looks like this one was a bust; but at least you can drown your sorrows in Ghostbusters.
