Getting Started

How to unlock your Wii

Before you can enjoy homebrew, themes, and other downloads, you must unlock your Wii with our precompiled software package which includes The Homebrew Channel, Homebrew Browser, SoftMii Tweak Toy with popular custom Themes, and much more.

Download and unzip the Wii Unlock Package for your console's region below and follow the step-by-step Wii Unlock Guide:

NOTE: After downloading using the button below, please click on the expand image to learn how to add the files to your Wii.

Unzip The Files On Your PC.

Open The Unzipped folders to where you find the following files and folders inside.

Take Your SD Card and Put It In The SD Reader In Your Computer.

Go To MY COMPUTER >> Right Click On SD Drive >> Left Click On Format

Choose File System FAT AT 16 Kilobytes

Once Format Is Completed, Copy The Contents That Was Inside The SD Folder You Have Unzipped Over To The SD Card

NOTE: Your Wii must be connected to the internet, which can be done through Wii settings >> internet connection

Go to Data Management then choose Channels then the SD Tab

Choose "Yes" to load boot.dol

You will then be at a screen with red, yellow, and white text.

Arrow down to DowngraderIOS35.dol (2nd from the bottom) and run it by pressing "A" on the WiiMote.

Press "A" on the WiiMote and you will see a list beginning with WAD.

Choose downgrade IOS35 and then let it go, then choose exit (ignore the patchmii and dvdx)

You will then be back to the screen with red, yellow, and white text. (Push the"A" button on the wiimote)

Go down and run Wad Manager 1.4 by pressing "A" on WiiMote.

Hit The "A" Button (until you end up with a list of files beginning with HBC.WAD)

Arrow down to IOS35.wad.

Hit The "A" Button (until you end up with a list of files beginning with HBC.WAD)

Then press the HOME button on the wiimote which will bring you back to a screen with red yellow and white text (Push the"A" button on the wiimote)

Arrow down to BOOT2.DOL
Push the"A" button on the wiimote till your back to a list beginning with HBC.WAD

Arrow down to CIOS-249.wadand press the + key on the wiimote.

Push the"A" button on the wiimote till your back to a list beginning with HBC.WAD

Arrow up to gameplayer.wad and press the + key on the wiimote
Press the"A" button on the wiimote till your back to a list beginning with HBC.WAD

NOTE: If you just want the gameplayer on your Wii you can stop here.

Arrow up to HBC.wad and press the + key on the wiimote

Press the"A" button on the wiimote till your back to a list beginning with HBC.WAD

Press "Home" to exit.

NOTE: You will now unplug and replug in the power on your Wii to find that Backuplauncher and Homebrew Channel are installed and working.

3.2 STARFALL/cIOSCORP/Riiski/SoftMii = PART 3 ONWARDS

Requirements:
-NO GC CONTROLLERS OR MEMORY CARDS PLUGGED IN!
-PAL or NTSC-U Wii [No Others Have Been Tested]
-SD Card (512MB-2GB in size) [formatted to FAT as in step 1 on the next page]
-The Wii Unlock Package, unpacked to your SD card ROOT
-The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for Wii Retail
-Internet Connection For Wii (For Full Set up)
Please read through all steps at least twice before beginning.

This part is the Twilight hack and HBC installation. (Special Thanks to Team Twiizers)

Step 1. The first step is to get a SD card (SDHC WILL NOT WORK) that is properly formatted. Download the formatter tool here, and install it on your computer. Run the SDFormatter 2.0, make sure your SD card is selected in the drop down menu, click option and set format to full (erase on) and format size adjustment to on. Press Ok, Press Format. Wait. Close program when finished. This will ensure your SD card is clean, properly formatted, and will not be the cause of any issues.

Step 2. Now we need to identify your system menu version. This can be found by going to Wii Settings and will be displayed in the top right corner of the screen. If your version is 3.3 or below use the Twilight Hack -3.3.zip and extract it to the root of your SD card where it will create a folder called private, containing the Save Hack, 3.4 users need to extract the Twilight Hack 3.4.zip instead. You should now have a the correct Save Hack on the SD-Card.

NOTE: If you are on version 3.3 attempt to use the shop channel, if it asks for an update proceed as normal, however if it does not ask for an update then you will need to use the 3.4 twilight hack as you are actually on 3.3v2 which is basically 3.4.

Step 3. Copy all of the files and folders from the Copy to SD folder in the Wii unlock package onto the root of your SD card preserving file names/directory structure.

Step 3b. If you have never played Zelda you will need to play it once and create a save file, or you won't be able to copy Twilight hack to your Wii. If you have already played it and want to keep your current save file, you must back up your save to SD card and transfer it to the computer before attempting before trying to unlock the Wii. The Twilight Hack overwrites any save stored on the SD card, so be careful. Note: Don't have a copy of Zelda Twilight Princess for Wii?

Step 4. After Ensuring you have a save created/backed up, go into the Wii settings, then data management, then game saves, then Wii. Make sure the tabs on the right Wii is selected, then click on the twilight save and select erase. After it is erased select SD from the upper right hand tab. Select the twilight hack with your regions name under it. Select copy. After it has copied you may return the to main system menu.

Step 5 Start Zelda regularly, Select the Twilight Hack Save Version that corresponds with your version of twilight princess, this can be found on the inner ring of the game disc. When the game loads walk backwards.

Step 6. HBC 1.01 installer will begin, answer yes to all prompts. Your system will restart with the homebrew channel installed.

Step 7. Start the Homebrew Channel, and select " Wad Manager" from the list of programs.

Step 8. Select “Load From SD”, and then select “IOS16.wad” and press (+) to install. Press the "Home" button when it finishes.

Step 9. From The Home Brew Channel Load " Custom Wad Manager"

Step 10. Select "Load From SD" once more and this time install "cIOS249rev7.wad"

This Will Downgrade Us

Step 11. Return to Homebrew Channel and run “IOS Downgrader”, if some things fail, this is normal, simply run the program again until all of them succeed. If it finishes immediately then all of your IOS are in proper condition.

Your Wii IOS's are now proper and hackable, Regardless we will still need the special 3.2 system menu for out of region gaming, so lets do the following steps after you make sure you have a internet connection properly configured in the Wii settings menu, refer to your Wii manual for help with this.

Step 12. From Homebrew Channel Select AnyRegionChanger 1.1 M5. Once you are in the program you will see a list of options, do not change anything, scroll down to where it says install system menu 3.2 and hit go. Select Yes to System Menu Hacks, and No to korean Disc Support. When its done select reboot to reboot your Wii. If your Wii freezes after the install just hold down the power button until your Wii shuts down, then power it on normally.

Step 13. Run Home Brew Channel and select SoftMii Nand Dumper and Load the app. Once loaded please navigate to the following directory: TITLE/00000001/00000002/content

Now you need to select your original system menu + graphics app file. If you are NTSC , the files are 00000042.app and 00000043.app. If you are PAL, the files are 00000045.app and 00000046.app. Press the + button after you highlight each your regions app files and they will then be copied to the SD card. Press HOME to ext the browser once both files have been written to SD (the confirmation msg appears after each file). NOTE : These are your backups to restore your system menu back to normal in the future should you ever need them.

Almost done now....

Step 14. From Homebrew Channel Load PreLoader .28. Read the warning and press 1 to install. After install your Wii should reboot and load the preloader menu, if it does not power your Wii down and then turn it back on, as soon as you press power to turn it back on hold down reset to load the preloader menu.

Step 15. Select “Systemenu hacks." Enable all the hacks you would like, Skip Disc Update is required for proper backup loading from disc channel. DO NOT add or enable any region hacks as they are already in place thanks to the Any Region Changer Hacks, enabling these twice will cause compatibility issues with games. We recommend that you only enable Skip Disc Update Check, Remove Diagnostic Disk Check, Move Disc Channel, and No Menu BGM (Background Menu Music).

Step 16. Select "save settings" and wait for confirmation message to display “Settings Saved." Then press B to return to the preloader menu.

Step 17. Enter Settings and set "auto boot: System" (using the D-Pad Arrows), Then select save settings. Press B to return to main preloader menu

Step 18. Return to the system menu by selecting “Load System Menu”

Step 19. Run Homebrew Channel and Select CiosCorp 1.01. Wait for the installer to finish. It may freeze briefly.

Step 20. Exit and reboot.

Congratulations, you just unlocked your Wii!

How To Burn

Learn how to burn files to DVD-R discs

Note: You will often need to UnZIP or UnRAR the file if it is compressed before it can be burned.

Step 1. Load ImgBurn

Step 2. Select the 'Write image file to disc' button on the 'Ez-Mode Picker' screen.

Step 3. Insert a blank DVD-R Media disc.

Step 4. Select a file to write by clicking on the 'Browse for file' button. (It should be an *.ISO file).

Step 5. Change the MAX Write speed in the 'Settings' box to 4X or lower depending on the capabilities of your DVD burner. (The slower the write speed, the more accurately the files will be copied to the disc which results in a better chance of a successful burn.) Then Click the big 'Write' button.
